Outfits for the Office
The transition from one season to another can be tricky in terms of clothing. The temperature fluctuations make it harder to pick an outfit. It’s still winter, it’s still cold, even if we are getting closer to spring. We might have warmer weather for one or two days but then it gets colder again…this is very true for Chicago, where we usually don’t have a true Spring! We go from Winter to Summer overnight with no in-between season, meaning no Spring to adjust from cold to hot. Just the other day, when I thought the weather was getting better after we had springlike temperatures for a few days in row, then it snowed! That’s Chicago for you! By the way it exhausts your body big time too! Anyway, it can be difficult to choose what to wear during this period, especially when it’s time to dress up for work. Well, I’m here to help! I came up with 4 outfit ideas that will help you transition from winter to spring and look sharp for the office.
Before I start talking about the outfits, I want to mention a few rules of mine when it comes to dressing up for work:
No light blue jeans in the office unless it’s Friday
You want to dress like you mean business and not like you’re going to grab a Starbucks!
Don’t over do it especially in terms of jewelry (you don’t want to look like a Christmas tree!)
Simple is better to look elegant
And now let’s check out some outfits!
1) Black Flare Pants + Short Blazer Jacket
Flare pants are making a come back and I’m here for it! Well-fitted trousers through the waist, hips and thighs before flaring out slightly from the knees down, are what makes flare pants elegant! Ladies add black flare pants to your work wardrobe! The one I have in the picture above is from Express. Here is the link to it. Add a short blazer jacket to lengthen the figure on top of a light turtleneck sweater and you have a powerful outfit for the office!
2) Knitted Sweater Dress + Boots
I don’t know about you, but I’m all for a quick and easy outfit to put together. Well, a knitted sweater dress is the perfect solution to that. Elevate it by wearing a pair of tall leather boots with dark opaque tights. My boots are from Ralph Lauren and my sweater dress is from H&M. As I mentioned in the past, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on clothes to look good. You simply want to choose well-fitted clothes and natural fabrics like cotton and/or wool for the sweater dress.
3) Pleated Skirt + Sweater + Boots
A pleated skirt is another wardrobe staple in my opinion. This type of skirt makes you look elegant and feminine instantly. I wear it with my tall leather boots and a sweater. Adding a chunky necklace and bracelet is the final touch but honestly you don’t even need it to make this outfit look chic. The pleated skirt does the job! The French brand Sézane has nice pleated skirts. I really like the gold one here.
4) White Pants + Blazer Jacket + Light Brown Ankle Boots
The one thing I do to transition my clothes from winter to spring is to add lighter colors to my wardrobe. White pants are the perfect piece to wear during the in-between season. They pair well with light brown ankle boots. Mine are from Vince Camuto. I wear my white pants with my J.Crew brown blazer jacket and a denim shirt. You can also style a pair of white pants with a black sweater and black round neck short jacket. The one I wear in the picture above is another jacket from J.Crew and I LOVE it. It gives me the Chanel vibe minus the price tag!
Have a great week everyone!
